Severud Associates Promotions

Weeksville Heritage Center

The experienced and expert engineering staff at Severud Associates is our most important asset. Therefore, we are proud to announce the following promotions:  John Lu and Kyle MacDonald have advanced to the level of Associate and William Cheng, Timothy Culligan, Giuseppe Gennarini, and Gerry Lourentzatos have progressed to the position of Senior Engineer.  These engineers have demonstrated a deep commitment to their profession and the firm.

Associates

John Lu started at Severud Associates as a summer intern in 2015 and returned full-time the next year; in 2020, he progressed to senior engineer.  Well versed in the design of new buildings and renovation of existing facilities, John has particular experience with canopies and other special structures.  Licensed as a professional engineer in the state of New York, John is currently working on the mixed-use development at Halletts Point in Queens, NY, and a major film and television production hub in Brooklyn, NY.

Kyle MacDonald began his career at Severud Associates in 2016 as an engineer and progressed to senior engineer four years later.  He has worked on several large projects, such as New York University’s mixed-use 181 Mercer Street, through which he acquired expertise in theater design.  Also adept with structural analysis and BIM software, Kyle is currently involved in the complex gravity design of the new corporate headquarters at 270 Park Avenue in Manhattan, which is located directly above active railroad tracks.

Senior Engineers

William Cheng has completed projects ranging from 88 Wall Street, a hotel redevelopment of an historic terra cotta tile arch building, to 123 West 57th Street, a 26-story office building over a church, both in New York City.  Timothy Culligan has made significant contributions to several office building projects, including new construction, renovations, and tenant fit-outs, and is a key design team member for the 270 Park Avenue high-rise development in New York, NY.  Giuseppe Gennarini is fluent in several languages and has been an active team member on many large-scale residential projects, as well as high-rise office buildings such as One Vanderbilt Avenue in New York City.  Gerry Lourentzatos has worked on mega-projects such as New York University’s 181 Mercer Street and has extensive construction contract administration and field experience, most recently with the below-grade portions of 270 Park Avenue.  All four have been with Severud Associates for four years.

These talented engineers, along with their colleagues, will keep Severud Associates at the forefront of the structural engineering profession, using best practices for innovation, economy, and safety in their designs and providing engaged service to clients.
